In a recent project, GN Separation as provded to a client in sludge treatment industry a dwatering screw press package, including a screw press and a chemical dosing unit. As is known to all, sludge dewatering is a main application or screw press and chemical dosing, in fact, in practice, there are more applications that such system can be used for.
1.Livestock and poultry breeding wastewater treatment is another typical application scenario. Breeding wastewater contains high-concentration manure, protein, organic matter and suspended solids, which are difficult to separate directly by screw presses due to fine organic particles. The chemical dosing unit adds organic flocculants and pH regulators to breeding wastewater to aggregate manure particles into flocs. Subsequently, the screw press separates manure solids from wastewater efficiently. The separated solid manure can be made into organic fertilizer after fermentation, and the wastewater enters subsequent anaerobic and aerobic treatment units to reach discharge standards. Without chemical conditioning, fine manure particles easily block the filter screen of the screw press, causing frequent equipment maintenance and low separation efficiency. The automatic dosing system can also adapt to fluctuating wastewater discharge volume of breeding farms day and night, ensuring stable flocculation effect all the time.
2.In food processing industries such as starch factories, soybean processing plants and fruit juice factories, a large amount of organic residue wastewater is produced during production. Residues like starch slag and pomace are fine and sticky. The chemical dosing unit adds biodegradable flocculants to gather scattered residues into compact flocs, then the screw press squeezes out water from residues. Dehydrated residues can be recycled as feed raw materials, while separated wastewater is treated to achieve recycling of water resources. In pulp and paper factories, fiber sludge generated during papermaking is conditioned by the chemical dosing unit to flocculate tiny fibers, and the screw press recycles pulp fibers while dewatering sludge, reducing fiber loss and sludge output of the factory.
3.Industrial waste residue treatment also relies on their combined operation. For chemical industrial wastewater containing inorganic sediment and heavy metal particles, the chemical dosing unit adds coagulants and heavy metal capturing agents to make heavy metal ions precipitate and combine into large flocs, then the screw press extrudes sediment into solid hazardous waste for centralized harmless disposal. The chemical dosing unit can flexibly switch chemical types according to different pollutant components in industrial wastewater, matching the working characteristics of the screw press to realize efficient separation of hazardous solid waste and wastewater.
From the perspective of operational coordination, the chemical dosing unit undertakes chemical pretreatment and conditioning, solving the problem that fine particles cannot be effectively extruded by mechanical force alone; the screw press undertakes physical high-pressure dewatering to realize solid-liquid separation after flocculation. Modern integrated systems further realize linkage control: when the feeding flow of the screw press increases, the metering pump of the chemical dosing unit automatically increases the chemical dosage proportionally through PLC linkage, avoiding unstable flocculation caused by mismatched sludge volume and chemical dosage. This linkage mode not only improves dewatering stability but also reduces chemical consumption by 15% to 30% compared with separate manual dosing, lowering the operating cost of enterprises. In addition, the combination system has advantages of small floor area, fully automatic operation and low noise, so it is also widely used in containerized mobile sewage treatment equipment for construction sites and emergency sewage disposal projects.
In summary,this matching mode covers municipal environmental protection, agricultural breeding, food manufacturing, papermaking and industrial waste disposal fields, playing a core role in solid-liquid separation, waste resource recovery and pollutant reduction treatment.
