In a complete processing procedure for a construction mud treatment project, there are mainly 3 steps for separation. First one is a vibrating screen as the coarse particle separation. Second one is some cyclones for middle sized particle separation and the third one, the finest one, should be a horizontal decanter centrifuge. Here the decanter centrifuge is the key technology for deep and more thorough dewatering.

1. Technical principle of a decanter centrifuge used for dewatering purpose:

The decanter centrifuge generates a centrifugal force field through high-speed rotation (with a separation factor of up to 3000G) to achieve solid-liquid separation. Solid particles form a continuous layer and are discharged, while the liquid is directed out through an overflow weir. The processing capacity of a single machine can reach up to 50 tons per hour.

2. Applications of vibrating screens:

High speed decanter centrifuges are use for fine particle separation. It can process ultra-fine particles ranging from 2-5μm, reducing the moisture content from 95% to 78%-85%, meeting the standards for slurry reuse.

The decanter centrifuge are also used for dewatering of slurry for cast-in-place piles: After dehydration, the sediment solid content reaches 70%-76%, and the volume decreases by 62%, significantly improving the on-site environment of the pile foundation.

With help of some chemical dosing units, decanter centrifuges can also be used for high-viscosity sludge treatment.

3. Practical features of decanter centrifuges:

In operation, decanter centrifuges are highly automatic. For example, GNLW series decanter centrifuges are integrated with intelligent system with a VFD control panel and a HMI touching screen, the program is smart to calculate the G force, rotating speed, and differential speed in order to achieve a most satisfactory treating result with changing material conditions.

Decanter centrifuges need a comparably smaller footprint. Compared to filter presses, the equipment occupies 60% less space, making it suitable for construction sites with limited space.
